Summary:
The Database Administrator (DBA) will work closely with Camilion's R&D and Services team to ensure the successful development and implementation of their products. This is a role for someone who wants to make an impact on the development of the product in R&D and who also craves face-to-face interactions with clients to better understand their needs.

Main Accountabilities:

  • Be the expert in installing, design, and tuning Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server and/or IBM DB2 in the R&D environments and live at our client sites. Act as a first point of contact for all database related issues.
  • Understand the intricate differences amongst Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, and IBM DB2
  • Actively provide expert advice to various development projects around database designs and best practices and develop schemas that deliver high performance applications
  • Develop and maintain the database installation scripts for different versions of Camilion products
  • Maintain the Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERD) and the Data Dictionary (DD) of the database schema
  • Research and advise the development team on emerging technology advances in Databases
  • Coordinate major problem solutions with DBMS software vendors and/or appropriate in-house expertise
  • Lead the development of technical staff through information sharing in the forms of presentations, technical documents and hands-on mentoring around the database technologies
  • Assist in monitoring and troubleshooting performance problems and other issues reported by clients through the Support organization
  • Deal with conflicting deadlines when working on multiple projects
  • Coordinate activities with other teams across multiple groups to achieve a working software product
  • This is a full-time regular position with part-time travel to client sites

Required Skills/Qualifications:

  • University or College Degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent
  • 3-4 years work experience performing Database Architect/ Administrator duties on Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server databases, and/or IBM DB2, with specific expertise with J2EE web-based applications
  • Experience with large client/server/database software development projects and web applications development with focus on Java/J2EE technologies, Oracle RDBMS, Microsoft SQL Server, and IBM DB2
  • Must be comfortable working in a Unix environment and the use of Unix scripting, Perl, and Windows Batch scripting
  • Master in Performance Tuning, Query Optimization, Database tuning, Coding Stored Procedures, Triggers, Complex Views, Indexes
  • Must possess a solid understanding of the Software Development Lifecycle (SDLC)
  • Self-motivated and self-managed with a high degree of analytical ability and intellectual curiosity
  • Ability to learn and quickly get familiar with a complex business and systems environment.
  • A team player who thrives in a fast-paced environment and excels in working with multiple projects and stakeholders, including R&D, Support, Services, and Product Management.
  • Comfortable working under pressure at client sites
  • Effective written and verbal communications
