Summary
Provide architectural leadership in the implementation of Insurance Solutions that leverage Camilion´s Products. Play a key role in shaping new customer propositions and providing technical leadership throughout the lifecycle of major long-term projects.
The candidate will bring at least 10 years of software industry experience, including 5 years of insurance solutions application design, preferably within an insurance-focused software vendor. Some travel to the US is required.
Accountabilities
Client Projects
As the technical lead on client projects, the Solutions Architect plays a pivotal role in the successful implementation of Camilion products for clients in the Insurance industry.
- Act as a visionary to proactively assist in defining the direction for client projects
- Apply knowledge of insurance policy lifecycle and insurance business to technical and architecture requirements to ensure sound business solutions design
- Establish overall architectural view, identification of major system interfaces, development of module reuse on an enterprise-wide scale, and identification of existing architecture weaknesses/opportunities for process reengineering and cost benefit analysis
- Provide overview of estimation process
- Take a leadership position in solution design and fully document these in architecture and high-level design documents
- Play a technical leadership role in all aspects of the project life cycle, from the initial kickoff through the requirements analysis, design and implementation
- Conduct technical risk assessments through using experience, analysis, prototyping and research
- Ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes through systems analysis and design, system modeling, performance modeling, integration planning and technology and component selection
- Understand problem domain and document in design documents
- Effect knowledge transfer to both client and internal personnel
- Mentor and coach internal project team resources to ensure proper execution of client solutions
- Provide client technical direction to ensure long-term success of client solutions
- Conduct configuration and code review with internal and client project resources
- Identify major technical risk and issues and recommend mitigation options
- Create design documentation for technical interfaces or complex implementations (e.g. Rating, Security)
- Assist in requirements gathering/JAD sessions with Business Analysts and clients
- Work closely with Project Manager to assess and manage risk, maintain proper resource level on project team, and identify and escalate issues

Internal Projects
The Solutions Architect contributes to the advancement of Camilion technology and products through frequent communication with Product Management and Research & Development organizations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide input into Product Roadmap initiatives
- Act as a catalyst for continued improvement in processes and tools
- Collaborate with CTO, Director of Development, Director of Product Management and other senior resources in the establishment of product direction and roadmap
- Work with other Solutions Architects to ensure knowledge sharing across project teams, and ensure consistent problem-solving solutions are developed
- Assist Product Management organization with execution of product management processes
- Support pre-sales initiatives by attending meetings with prospects, supporting the preparation of customer demos, and delivering technical presentations
- Lead "Proof of Concept" (POC) of technical solutions
- Assist Project Manager with estimation of project effort for the preparation of Statements of Work
Knowledge and Skills
- University degree in computer science or equivalent
- 10+ years of software industry experience, 5+ years in insurance solutions application design
- Strong background in Insurance applications, including experience with Property & Casualty and Life Insurance
- Experience with estimation methodologies and processes
- Experience with Websphere 5/6, Solaris, Oracle, performance tuning
- Strong understanding of application architecture and design principles
- Solid understanding of:
- web-based application architectures, specifically J2EE
- object-oriented design principles
- Ability to design software systems at an abstract/conceptual level as well as at a detail level
