Job Title: Technical Consultant

Reporting to: Director, Services
Location:123 Commerce Valley Drive East, Markham, Ontario

(Several positions available from Intermediate (1-3 years relevant experience) to Senior (7-10+ years experience)

Summary

The Consultant plays two main roles, Application Author, and Interface Analyst.

As Application Author, the Consultant is responsible for developing and configuring web-based applications using Camilion´s ProductAuthority®, Authority Suite®, and other industry standard development tools and practices.

As an Interface Analyst, the Consultant is responsible for designing, developing, configuring and creating test harnesses for integration and interface software, to integrate Camilion´s software with that of our clients.

The Consultant has experience building applications using J2EE architecture and working on project teams consisting of internal and client staff. Experience interacting with external clients in a consulting capacity is required.

Preference will be given to candidates with experience in the following areas:

• Consulting projects
• Enterprise Packaged Application configuration
• Financial Services Application projects, especially Insurance

Accountabilities

The Consultant is accountable for the completeness, accuracy and quality of components of the software solution configured by Camilion´s Professional Services organization for our clients. The Consultant will configure business process applications using Camilion´s ProductAuthority® and design/develop application interfaces using industry standard tools.

• Perform estimation, analysis and design of business processes
• Create technical designs that translate the functional design created by Business Analysts into an actionable set of technical tasks
• Analyze client information standards and formats, mapping data structures to ProductAuthority
• Build, unit test, system test, performance tune and debug business process applications using ProductAuthority and industry standard tools
• Work with client throughout the development lifecycle from gathering interface requirements to production implementation
• Assist with troubleshooting and problem resolution of complex integration issues during the development, QA and implementation phases
• Write custom code to resolve integration issues: work within existing data and coding standards
• Develop and implement test harnesses and business/system reports
• Support the development of systems interfaces using Java, XSLT and XSL and XSL-FO
• Support function, integration and scalability testing
• Provide input to R&D Product enhancement requests and customer change requests
• Provide project team with status, risk, and scope issues, using issue tracking systems
• Escalate issues to Project Manager as appropriate
• Participate in integration testing of interfaces, code reviews and knowledge transfer

Assist in the creation, maintenance, delivery and documentation of several deliverables including:

• Update business process documentation
• Document the following:
• Interfaces between Camilion software and Client system software
• Interface requirements gathering and design
• Interface code, test plans, error handling, performance, scalability/ robustness
• Development of test harnesses
• Interface set up and trouble-shooting documentation

Knowledge and Skills

• Bachelors Degree in Computer Science or equivalent
• Ability to travel and work in the US (Cdn. citizen or in possession of appropriate visa)
• Prior experience in a software firm
• Client-facing experience
• 3-5+ years of Java, and XML development
• 3-5+ years experience in a J2EE environment
• Demonstrable experience and knowledge of SQL, JavaScript, HTML, DHTML
• Experience with JSP, Servlets, JDBC
• Experience developing applications in IBM Websphere environments
• Experience with sockets, CORBA highly desirable
• Thorough knowledge of communication protocols including sockets and ftp
• Experience developing synchronous and asynchronous interfaces using Java, messaging, XML and web services
• Hands-on experience in a business environment with the following:
• Database application design
• Oracle
• Solaris/Unix
• Microsoft Windows
• IDE use
• Version Management Systems
• Developing with communication protocols including http, sockets or ftp
• Desired: SOA, Websphere, PL/SQL, RMI, JMS, DB2, XSLT, CSS, LoadRunner, Java Certification.
