Job Title: Presales Engineer

Provide architectural leadership in the pre-sales activities of Insurance Solutions that leverage Camilion's ProductAuthority® and Authority Suite®. Play a key role in shaping new customer propositions and providing technical leadership during the full sales cycle.

The candidate will bring 7+ years of software industry experience, preferably some experience of insurance solutions application design, preferably within an insurance-focused software vendor and client-facing experience. Travel is required (predominantly to the United States).

Accountabilities:

Pre-Sales Activities:

As an integral member of the Sales Support organization, the Pre-Sales Engineer plays a pivotal role in the sales cycle of Camilion products for clients in the Insurance industry.

  • Apply knowledge of insurance policy lifecycle and insurance business to technical and architecture requirements to ensure sound business solutions design in the sales cycle
  • Support demos and proofs of concepts during the sales cycle
  • Build products and enhancements to the sales demonstration environments
  • Respond to technical queries and questions from the prospects during oral presentations and through Request for Information and Request for Proposal processes.
  • Establish overall architectural view, identification of major system interfaces, development of module reuse on an enterprise-wide scale, and identification of existing architecture weaknesses/opportunities for process reengineering and cost benefit analysis
  • Take a leadership position in solution design during the sales process.
  • Ensure architectural consistency and coherence between technical and business processes and ensure smooth handoff to the delivery Solution Architects.
  • Understand problem domain and document in design documents
  • Identify major technical risk and issues and recommend mitigation options
  • Work closely with the Account Executives during the sales pursuit cycles
  • Have responsibility for other key initiatives, as identified by the Director of Sales Support to meet quarterly and annual departmental objectives.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • University degree in Computer Science or equivalent.
  • 7+ years of software industry experience
  • Nice to have - Insurance solutions application design
  • Experience with estimation methodologies and processes
  • Strong understanding of application architecture and design principles
  • 3+ years of Java Development
  • 2+ years of XML development
  • Experience developing synchronous and asynchronous interfaces using Java, messaging, XML and web services
  • Client-facing experience
